My happy place!
Ever thought about your happy place?
This is my happy place, where I get a good workout at the piano and feel inspired again by my favourite composer, music dictionary and dried flowers!
This Challen has braved many elements and still sits proudly in my home as the piano I remember practising on for my first lesson. The music on the piano stand is Vilia (Franz Lehar) and Sonata No 1 (Clementi). These are reminders of many singalongs and duets at the piano.
I started with piano and now play many instruments. At the moment, besides piano, recorder and alto sax are my go-to instruments.
Learning the piano was the beginning of everything for me. I learned to persevere, stay disciplined and enjoy challenges, but most of all, I developed a sense of achievement.
When I hear recordings of my favourite composers, I can remember how I played Beethoven, Chopin and Debussy, listened to Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 while vacuuming and to Rachmaninoff's concertos, imagining I was a concert pianist!
